Who we are

MoRENeT CSIRT is the cybersecurity incident response center for the national academic and scientific community. The main objective of this initiative is to establish a single point of contact for all security incidents involving MoRENet members and to coordinate incident handling and response and critical information exchange among the various stakeholders. MoRENet CSIRT was established on November 3, 2018 and is a member of the National CSIRTs network.

Emergence of CSIRTs

The first CERT / CC designated security incident coordination center was established in the US in 1988 as a response to the first major Internet security incident – the spread of the first virus, created by Robert Morris for the purpose of self- -propagate through the network that was responsible for the contamination of more than 60,000 computers worldwide, affecting the global operation of the Internet. The CERT was established by ARPA, a research project of the US Department of Defense and later under the administration of Carnegie Mellon University. With the global growth of the Internet, similar organizations and services have started to appear all over the world.
